Fix a TV Time import that isn't working

If a TV Time import fails, keep the original ZIP unchanged and sign in again before retrying once. Kino accepts the original compatible TV Time GDPR ZIP and compatible TV Time Out archives; other or incomplete ZIPs can fail. A reload can resume a running job, while an error offers a retry. After completion, check matched records, unmatched titles, and archived records separately.

Before you retry

Keep the original ZIP untouched and retain a separate backup. Confirm that it is the original compatible TV Time GDPR ZIP or a compatible TV Time Out archive. If your Kino session may have expired, sign in again before choosing the file.

For the standard upload sequence, return to the TV Time import guide.

If Kino cannot import the archive

Retry once with the original file. An upload that does not start may point to a connection or sign-in problem; a ZIP that reaches Kino but ends in the error state may be incomplete or unsupported. The public message deliberately does not expose internal error details.

Do not extract, rename, edit, or recompress the archive. Those changes cannot restore source data and may make a compatible file unreadable.

If processing appears interrupted

While Kino shows the import as running, leave it time to finish. If you reload, Kino can resume checking a running job associated with your account. If the page shows the error state instead, use its retry action and upload the unchanged original ZIP again. Repeated retries do not repair an unsupported archive.

If the import completes with gaps

A completed report separates records matched to Kino’s current catalog from unmatched titles and supported records kept in the archive. A zero in one category can mean that the source contained no usable record of that kind; it does not by itself mean the whole import failed.

See what Kino imports from each source for source-specific coverage and matching limits. You can also compare the broader workflow on the TV Time alternative page.

What Kino cannot do

Kino cannot recover a TV Time account remotely, generate a missing TV Time export, guarantee that every title matches the catalog, or reconstruct data absent from the source archive. Keep the original backup even after a successful import.

Frequently asked questions

Should I extract the ZIP first?

No. Upload the original ZIP as received.

Can I import both supported sources?

Yes. If you have compatible official TV Time and TV Time Out archives, import them separately and review each report.

Does a zero count mean the import failed?

Not necessarily. Read the complete report and compare it with the categories available in that source.

What happens to unmatched titles?

They are reported separately from catalog matches. Supported unmatched records can remain in the Kino archive and export.

Should I keep my backup?

Yes. Keep the untouched source ZIP as your independent copy.
